CPEN Study Links

1. Pam Bartley has an extensive list of study resources at her PDB Nurse Education site. For the CEN exam, Pam's study guide is essential as it concisely provides all the needed information contained on the CEN exam.

2. Scott DeBoer has a new version of his book Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN Exam Review), January 2021. This is available through Amazon. If you are going to buy this one, please use your Amazon Smile link so a small amount of the proceeds can be sent to the charity you select when setting up your Amazon Smile.

I have an older e-book version of this guide and it is a great resource, although my copy may be dated.

3. AHA's Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS). This book is available from AHA and your hospital will likely have a copy you could borrow for test prep.

4. ENA's Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC). This book is available from ENA and your hospital may even have a copy you could borrow for test prep.

If you only use one guide, use Pam's guide to prepare. If you are using multiple resources to prepare, be sure to include Pam's guide as the last resource used to prep up test day, as it is comprehensive yet succinct with helpful mnemonics and tables.
